Flavor Profile:
Sun cured with the traditional curing method produces a heavenly vanilla aroma with dark chocolate and coffee hints (many folks also claim to catch a floral whiff) and are very long and plump. These beans are grown in the Sumatra region of Indonesia.

Vanilla beans originated in Mexico and are sun cured for months using the traditional drying method. They are now found all over the world from places like Madagascar to Indonesia to Papa New Guinea PNG farms. The scent consists of a mocha-cacao aroma with a rich, black or dark brown color and an oily outside surface. The interior of the bean is where the magic is at and consists of millions of black, tiny vanilla seeds that are waiting to be scraped out.

Our beans are traditionally cured to develop the full, complex vanilla flavor made of over 200 organic compounds that artificial vanilla (Natural Vanilla Flavor WONF) cannot properly replicate. The entire process takes anywhere from 6 to 9 months after pollination and our farmers in the Sumatran region of Indonesia have turned vanilla processing and curing into a true art. This region remains the industry quality benchmark for producing planifolia vanilla with high vanillin content.

Our grade A vanilla beans are ~5 - 7 inches in length and are handpicked to ensure proper qualities. There are so many recipes that can be created with these magical beans! They are perfect for making homemade vanilla extract or KAHLUA, home cooking or baking, desserts such as vanilla bean ice cream, cake, cupcakes, or cookies and are a top choice of professional chefs for making desserts such as Creme Brulee. Our beans are also a top pick for home brewers or those who own a brewery or cidery! Homemade KAHLUA or Vanilla extract is also a very popular gift and can be made using a simple vodka infusion method! Bonus points for using the spent vanilla beans after the extract making process for creating vanilla sugar!

You can also follow these instructions to learn how to open, split, and scrape a whole vanilla bean!

Our beans are triple inspected throughout the journey from Indonesia to the United States. First, they are inspected by our farmers who have hundreds of years of wisdom and experience growing these gourmet pods.  The second inspection is before bulk vacuum sealing for transport and to ensure no mold has developed. The final inspection is done at our warehouse moments before packing your shipment. We check the smell, quality, and appearance if any mold has developed a final time. Once all of these are checked, we vacuum seal our vanilla beans in our beautiful custom industrial vacuum pouch to a tight 28 HG vacuum.

Beans are great and we are patiently waiting for the end results.

Such nice vanilla bean pods from VBK! I’ve already made a 1 1/2 fold with a Kentucky vodka. Yum! Can’t wait for it to be ready!

Sumatra Beans are wonderful

The Sumatra beans arrived and weighed in at 2 ounces, exactly what I ordered. I loved the smell, the waxy moist feel, and cutting them open revealed lots of rich, gooey caviar. Thanks to the liquor recommendation from Shane at Clement Family Farms, I had my Captain Morgan Coconut Rum all set for extraction. I'm very happy with the Sumatra Beans, and will look forward to trying other varieties. I have found my new vanilla bean supplier in Vanilla Bean Kings. I've been disappointed with other sellers in the past, but no more.

First time...can't wait til they have finished extracting!

I love all the beans I have recieved from VBK....plump and beautiful, as all their beans are. I love it when my vanilla beans arrive and the aroma is beautiful and inviting. These were! I think you will be very pleased with the Sumatra. A long wait...but from all the beans I have purchased and patiently waited a year for the full bloom, I can honestly say....I am HAPPY!

This is amazing...

This was my first time making vanilla extract, and it has been an amazing experience (and I can also say that it has been pure perfection). I ordered Madagascar grade a beans, and Sumatra grade a beans because, why not try two different kinds and see if I can tell the difference? Well, everything about my order was amazing and done to perfection. The difference in smell (and now taste - Madagascar beans have a warm, raisin smell and taste. And the Sumatra beans have a cooler, smokier smell and taste, if that makes any sense. YUM.) the quality of the beans, and whoever sent my order made sure that the ounces of my beans were almost equal. I'm not sure if they meant for that, but after reading what has happened to some people, I was worried I would have failed from jump because I didn't order by weight. But no, I had the perfect amount because of whoever packaged the vanilla beans and sent them out to me. Now I have nothing but the best feeling when I think of vanilla beans, making something out of them, and for this company who I will be ordering from forever. I am so pumped! Thanks guys for caring about your work and making sure the experiences we get are amazing!!

So I have my Sumatra in ocean. Can't wait.

A slam dunk, as always!

I have purchased beans from several different companies before finding Vanilla Bean Kings and they were always poor quality… even when I ordered Grade A. Every bean that I have ordered from VBK has been perfect… even the grade B beans were fragrant, moist and full of oil. These beans were beautiful and I can’t wait until my vanilla matures.
