If you think Vanilla tastes bland, you’re not alone. But, what you may have been led to believe about Vanilla being a boring flavor is actually quite far from the truth.

Contrary to popular belief, Vanilla is one of the most complex flavors on the planet. If we go back to the 16th Century, it was considered to be one of the most precious and profitable commodities belonging to the Spanish Empire. As an ingredient that was sought after by the most elite people in society, Vanilla was labeled as an exotic and luxurious flavor.

Why Do So Many People Think Vanilla Tastes Boring?

Around 95% of vanilla-based products, including Vanilla Ice Cream are formulated with something called Synthetic Vanillin. This far from tasty ingredient is actually made synthetically for use in commercial, processed foods.

So, if you have tasted a shop-bought vanilla-based product, the likelihood is, that there was never any ‘real’ vanilla in there at all.

Simply Delicious

Follow these simple instructions and look forward to creating one of the tastiest homemade ice-cream dishes you are likely to experience!

Made from just six ingredients and completed in seven steps, this has to be one of the quickest and easiest ways to make homemade ice cream.

As for the end result, let your taste buds do the talking once you complete this easy homemade ice cream recipe.

Seven Steps to Heavenly Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

Step 1 – Take a large saucepan and add Whipping Cream, Whole Milk, Salt, and ¾ of the cup of sugar. Heat gently over medium heat while stirring through.

Step 2 – Scrape out the seeds of the Vanilla Bean into the pan, adding the entire bean pod afterward. Make sure that you stir the mixture continuously until all the sugar is completely dissolved. This usually takes between 6-8 minutes.

Note: Make sure that you do not let the mixture boil at any point.

Step 3 – Remove from the heat and leave the mixture to stand for 15 minutes.

Step 4 – Place the remaining sugar and your 6 egg yolks into a bowl and whisk thoroughly. Slowly add in 1 cup of the mixture you made earlier. Then, take your egg mixture and add this back into the pan. Heat again, on a medium setting. Stir continuously for 10 minutes or until the mixture thickens up.

Tip: If you have a thermometer handy, you should expect it to be approximately 160° at this point.

Step 5 – Run your mixture through the strainer into your metal bowl. At this point, you can discard of the vanilla pod.

Step 6 – Take your ice and place it into a large bowl. Then, place the bowl containing the mixture into the bowl of ice. Let it stand, but stir occasionally for approximately 20 minutes. Cover, then chill for 4 hours.

Step 7 – Get your electric ice cream maker ready to use. Pour the mixture into the freezer container and freeze according to your chosen manufacturer guidelines. Once complete, transfer the contents into your container, cover, then freeze.

Note: Times may vary depending on the type of electric ice cream maker.

I will try to get a picture of the ice cream we make, though it goes FAST!! We will never, ever eat store bought again. We make homemade vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, blueberry etc. We make it so much, that after we made it for some friends social gathering, they ask for it consistently now. We use the VBK beans for all our extract, ice cream and homemade Vanilla Coffee Creamer. Thank you for always providing a quality product.

I have gotten your vanilla beans a couple of times now and always receive them quickly and perfect condition. Quality has been fantastic. I have only used them to make extract. However, we love vanilla bean ice cream, our go to dessert. So I would like to make your vanilla bean ice cream recipe but have a question.
The step #6 below, when it says cover, then chill for 4 hours.
Is this in the refrigerator or freezer?
Thanks

Should Vanilla Bean Plants be pinched for thickness or left to grow slowly and at their own pace. Should they be put into a larger pot?
